The Department of International Relations is a department that can contribute to the analysis of solutions that will contribute to the political, social, economic, sociological and legal aspects of the country and across the country. One of the important advantages of the department is that it is an interdisciplinary department. By utilizing regional and national resources, the facilities with various dimensions are supported by the international scale as much as possible, and are considered as a department with the capacity to produce solutions to social and political problems. Especially in recent years, the events experienced at the inter-state level and all humanity related to the importance of applying the necessary methods to prevent these events and intervening in the problems.

[] Admission Requirements
The admission of students to the programmes is made according to the Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM – University entrance exam) within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council (HEC). After students inform the Student Selection and Placement Centre about what programmes they want to study at, students are placed in the related programmes according to their scores they got from the exam.

Foreign students are admitted to the related programmes with the scores of internationally acceptable exams such as SAT, ACT or are admitted to the related programmes with their high school graduation grades (Undergraduate and Graduate Programmes for Foreign Students Admission Guidelines).

The admission of students of General Academic Exchange Protocol to the related programmes are done within the framework of the bilateral agreements (ERASMUS, FARABI, etc) signed between Duzce University and the partner universities. Guest students may enrol into the courses in this programme, if the related academic unit approves. Sufficient language knowledge is required to monitor the programme.
[] Course's Contrubution To Program
To complete the available courses in the program (a total of 240 ECTS) successfully, the students have to get at least 50 points out of 100 and required to achieve 2.50 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average. To graduate from the programs students should get at least DD in all of the courses provided. Students are also required to complete the compulsory practice in the specified time.
[] Recognition of Prior Learning
Students enrolled in DU might be exempted from certain courses within the framework of certain regulations. A student can be exempted from a certain course provided related course content previously received from another institution complies with that of DU, which is subject to approval and verification by the Board of faculty/graduate school/school.

Recognition of Education Abroad

DU recognises academic terms and courses studied by a student that has been involved in an exchange programme for one or two terms at the universities with which a partnership was established.

Students that are selected to avail themselves of Student Mobility for Studies under ERASMUS are obliged to draw up an education agreement with relevant ERASMUS Unit Coordination prior to the mobility term. The education agreement demonstrates the courses to be studied at the partner university the student intends to go, as well as appropriate ECTS credits.

In addition to this, students shall be asked to issue a Recognition Sheet, which refers to the equivalent of foreign courses in DU, so that the credit transfer is planned and approved.

At the end of the exchange term, the courses studied abroad are recorded and demonstrated in the transcript, together with the original course codes and names and ECTS credits. Pursuant to ERASMUS Programme and Collaboration Agreements concluded thereunto, official transcripts will quote, an abbreviation signal of ET, European Transfer, for the courses studied abroad.
[] Description of Program

The structure of the international system, the functioning of the states, international organizations and non-state actors in the behavior and interaction with each other, and for this purpose, the curriculum is structured with an interdisciplinary approach. In addition, in the first four semesters of the undergraduate program, students generally have knowledge about the historical and legal foundations of international relations as well as the basic courses of social sciences. In the same periods, they gain information about the intersection of this discipline with other disciplines. In the following periods, with both theoretical and practical lessons, more specific subjects of international relations are addressed and detailed studies are carried out on regional developments as well as on global issues. 2 Having the knowledge of international relations, diplomatic history, law, international law, economics, public administration, management and accounting required in a qualified employee who is demanded by the public and private sectors and being able to utilize this knowledge.
3 Analyzing and evaluating hypothetical knowledge as well as offering solutions in the field of international relations.
4 Taking responsibility in studies related to the field of international relations and being able to arrange and independently conduct such studies.
5 Being able to offer and share alternative solutions in the field of international relations with awareness for lifelong learning and critical thinking.
6 Being able to evaluate the knowledge that is acquired during the education period through building cause-effect relations; being able to foresee what kind of knowledge is required in which situation (where and when) and why.
7 Being able to share theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of international relations and translate them into teamwork activities.
8 Having competence of written and verbal communication in Turkish; being able to speak a foreign language at a level to exchange ideas on the field of international relations.
9 Being conscious about the social, scientific and professional ethics; being open to change and new ideas.
10 Being able to present opinions as to current issues in international relations, to enhance them as well as to use them in interpreting events.

[] Professional Profile of Graduates

Graduates have the opportunity to work in the public and private sector as well as in the central and external representations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Similarly, students who are educated in international economic and commercial relations have the opportunity to work in every branch of the private sector.

Upon successful completion of the program, the student can apply for Master's and Ph.D. degrees in the field of International Relations or other fields of science that accept students from this field.


[] The Upper Stage of a Transition

Upon successful completion of their undergraduate studies, our graduates can take their MSES and Ph.D. degrees at national and international higher education institutions, provided that they receive a valid score from ALES and have sufficient knowledge of foreign languages.

The Department of International Relations is equipped with modern knowledge and culture, with the ability to communicate, to be able to overcome research, analysis and problems. it has been determined to raise individuals. In this context, in addition to the compulsory courses in the departmental program, in-department and non-departmental elective courses, students are provided with the necessary equipment in line with their career goals.

In order to complete the program successfully, it is required to pass all the courses available in the program (equivalent to 240 ECTS) and to obtain a GPA of at least 2.50 out of 4.00.
