[] About Program

The Painting Department has been founded within the body of Art, Design and Architecture Department in 2010.

The educational focus of the Painting Department is intended to combine technical skills and artistic creativity. Therefore, the curriculum consists of theoretical and practical courses prepared by considering national and international criteria. The curriculum has a flexible structure that can be updated every year and there are workshop courses from different disciplines. 

The Painting Department takes attention with its young, modern, open-minded academic staff that prioritizes human values. In our department, there are 2 Professor, 4 Associate Professor, 2 Assistant Professor, 3 Research Associate. 

Our department started education with 15 students in 2016-2017.

The Painting Department aims to grow open minded, modern artists, who are aware of social and cultural events, follow the art agenda, produce original works. In order to realize this aim, it prepares an environment consisting of theoretical and practical courses, where students can discuss, express themselves.

[] Admission Requirements

The Painting Department accepts students with special talent exam. The "Special Talent Exam Guidelines" of the Senate of Duzce University are applied for the registration and admission conditions.

[] Course's Contrubution To Program
To complete the available courses in the program (a total of 240 ECTS) successfully, the students have to get at least 50 points out of 100 and required to achieve 2.50 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average. To graduate from the programs students should get at least DD in all of the courses provided.
[] Recognition of Prior Learning
Students enrolled in DU might be exempted from certain courses within the framework of certain regulations. A student can be exempted from a certain course provided related course content previously received from another institution complies with that of DU, which is subject to approval and verification by the Board of faculty/graduate school/school.

Recognition of Education Abroad

DU recognises academic terms and courses studied by a student that has been involved in an exchange programme for one or two terms at the universities with which a partnership was established.

Students that are selected to avail themselves of Student Mobility for Studies under ERASMUS are obliged to draw up an education agreement with relevant ERASMUS Unit Coordination prior to the mobility term. The education agreement demonstrates the courses to be studied at the partner university the student intends to go, as well as appropriate ECTS credits.

In addition to this, students shall be asked to issue a Recognition Sheet, which refers to the equivalent of foreign courses in DU, so that the credit transfer is planned and approved.

At the end of the exchange term, the courses studied abroad are recorded and demonstrated in the transcript, together with the original course codes and names and ECTS credits. Pursuant to ERASMUS Programme and Collaboration Agreements concluded thereunto, official transcripts will quote, an abbreviation signal of ET, European Transfer, for the courses studied abroad.

1 According to the characteristics of interdisciplinary contemporary art, art with the production of artists of different disciplines, able to train with the knowledge and skills to use.
2 To give professional art data
3 Students need to follow up national and international developments in the area of the D.P
4 Studies are required to use the technical knowledge and skills learned, parallel to art applications development technologies in D.P
5 Students should understand and produce their own unique approaches to interpreting the work of theoretical and practical problems.
6 Students should be able to think independently and should have social responsibility, sharing, understanding and being able to be sensitive to cultural differences
7 To gain the ability of multi-dimensional thinking and observetion
8 Students know methods that form the technical and professional issues and gain competence

10 Produced by the Department of Painting in the field of contemporary understanding of knowledge and experience, priority is given to academic research. students need to be participating in the workforce, both practical and theoretical sense to spread this worldwide.
11 To gain the painting department students artistic creativity, art culture, knowledge of painting equipment and comprehend by what means the level at which lead to that effect.

[] Professional Profile of Graduates

Students graduate from the Department of Painting may work in private and public organizations as painter, art consultant, museum manager, gallery manager, they can also participate in biennials, triennials, art fairs, which increasingly continue in our country, as professionals. Considering the academical needs of universities in our country, it can be seen that students have opportunities to have academic carrier in universities.

[] Graduation Requirements
The minimum number of local credits required to graduate from the painting degree is 168 in total, providing that 30 credits are obtained from optional courses. 30 ECTS credits are required for each semester, equalling a total of 240. The period of study for the painting degree is 4 years. Each half semester, which is made up of a 14 week period, involves midterm exams, homework, projects etc . In addition to these assessment activities, there are also end of term final exams. In order to graduate, students must consistently attend classes in the education programmes and pass them all. AGNO’s must be a minimum level of 2.5 and  all other works must be completed.
