Sociology is the body of knowledge in which associations of people are examined through scientific methods. The associations of people appear in various forms and content. The associations of people can be conceptualized in different levels; in macro level from international relations to nation-state, in mezzo level from employer-employee relations to institutionalized education, in micro level from mother-child relationship to local market. Sociology is a broad discipline which includes all these associations. Sociology produces concepts and theories, while it also makes policies. In this respect, sociology is both a fundamental and applied science. It is not only an academic interest but it also describes social problems and aims at solutions for them. Sociology among other disciplines contributes to and needs the most interdisciplinary work. It's no surprise that sociology offers various courses to other departments and demands courses from them. This makes sociology departments one of the essentials in the world of science.
