Department of Turkish language and literature commenced undergraduate program in 2010
The aim of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature undergraduate Program is to educate qualified people who recognize the Turkish language in its historical process from the beginning to these days, evaluate the old texts in terms of philology and literature, and contribute to its development and to protect it from the influence of foreign languages In addition, are able to transfer their consciousness to future generations. It is also important to train specialists who complete their basic education and prepare a master degree program. İt is also aimed to upskill the ability to express emotions, thoughts and knowledge in the most effective way, verbally and in writing as a Turkish citizen. In order to raise awareness that there is a strong relation between Turkish culture and history and Turkish language and literature, the lessons are given in connection with science branches such as history, sociology, anthropology, archeology, folklore, geography, ethnography.
There is no Preparatory Program (English) in Turkish language and literature department. Language education is taught in compulsory courses during the 3rd and 4th semesters. Care is taken to ensure that the compulsory courses are scheduled to meet new needs. In Department of Turkish Language and Literature undergraduate Program, starting from the 3rd semester; there are elective courses that students can take with their free will accordance with their interests and abilities.
The department consists of five branches of education: Classical Turkish Literature, Old Turkic Language, Modern Turkish Literature, New Turkish Language and Turkish Folk Literature.

5 | Knows the classical and modern literary movements from the past to the present. Evaluates the impacts of the literary movements upon the expression forms. |
6 | Develops the ability of perception, criticising and expressing an opinion about how to analyze a text. |
7 | Obtains information about the expression-based types in Turkish Folk Literature. |
8 | Obtains the basic knowledge and skill of studying and researching at the academic level in Turkish Language and Literature. |
9 | Obtains the ability of gathering, transmitting, editing, storing and presenting of information in the field of Turkish language and literature by using the Information and Internet technologies. |
10 | Knows the alphabets of the historical and contemporary Turkish dialects. Makes the transcription of the texts and translates them in to Turkey Turkish; makes studies on these texts about grammar and linguistics. |
11 | Uses the knowledge and skills acquired in the field of Turkish language and literature at the shared studies of other areas of social sciences. |
