Goals To give the ability of diagnosing and treating common ear nose and throat diseases and differentiating patients to be referred to higher centers
Course Content • History taking in otolaryngology • Physical examination in otolaryngology • Mikroscopy and endoscopy in ORL • Odiology • Larynx anatomy and physiology • Congenital, infectious and non-infectious diseases of the larynx • Indirect laryngoscopy • Tumours and other masses of the larynx and hypopharynx • Approach to neck masses • Tracheotomy • Practical hour • Lecture • Nose and paranasal sinus anatomy • Nasal infections and allergy • Allergy tests • Literature presentation • Nasal trauma ve epistaxis • Diseases of nasopharynx • Tumours of the nose and paranasal sinuses • Surgery in nasal obstruction • Ear anatomy and physiology • Evaluation of hearing • Otitis media • Practical hour • Otosclerosis • Peripheric vestibular diseases • Secretory otitis media • Temporal bone fractures • Tumours of the nose and paranasal sinuses • Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome • Rhinosinusitis and its complications • Lecture • Facial paralysis • Vocal cord paralysis • Endoscopic examination of the nasopharynx • Adenoiditis and tonsillitis • Surgical therapy of adenoid hypertrophy and tonsillitis • Literature presentation • Diseases of the external ear • Sudden hearing loss and acoustic trauma • Practical hour • Anatomy and physiology of the salivary glands • Diseases and tumours of the salivary glands • Dix Hallpike and Epley maneuvers • Drug prescription in otolaryngology • Microscopic examination of the ear • Chronik otitis media (COM) • Complications of COM • Cholesteatoma • Treatment of COM • Epistaxis • Approach to a patient with epistaxis • Foreign bodies in otolaryngology

1 To describe the normal structure and functions of the body's organs and organ systems.
2 To be able to explain the etiology and pathogenesis of diseases ,the clinical and diagnostic characteristics within the framework of the biopsychosocial model
3 To be able to get the detailed and reliable anamnesis, and to execute physical examination, basic medical interventions used in the diagnosis and treatment
4 To be able to execute initial intervention of life-threatening illnesses , and to provide patient transfer and transport when necessary
5 To select and perform the highly effective methods with the scientific data and evidence-based in treatment of diseases.
6 To apply ethical principles of the art of medicine.
7 To be able to make health services, management, organization and financing of knowing. Medical application of knowledge and application of legal rules and risk management.
8 To be able to carry out the principles of preventive medicine, and to collaborate with other relevant stakeholders for protect the health of society and individuals
9 To be able to make scientific research and to transfer scientific, and technological advances to professional practices.
10 To know enough foreign language to update medical knowledge and be able to use statistics and computer technologies in order to evaluate scientific studies.
