Goals The aim of this course is to examine the historical development of Islamic educational thought and educational institutions. The course covers the development of educational activities since the emergence of Islam, the educational institutions and educational approaches that emerged in Islamic civilization, with the goal of enabling students to evaluate the history of Islamic education from a historical and pedagogical perspective.
Course Content This course examines the development of educational activities in the Islamic world, beginning with the early periods of Islam. The course covers educational activities during the time of the Prophet, the suffa and mosque-centered approach to education, the development of educational institutions during the Umayyad and Abbasid periods, and the emergence and spread of madrasas. In addition, the educational views of Islamic thinkers, educational institutions and teaching methods in Islamic civilization are evaluated; educational institutions and the understanding of education during the Ottoman period are examined, and the general development process of Islamic educational history is analyzed.
