Goals | It shows how to calculate the appropriate sample size to ensure that the scientific research results are more reliable and more economical. |
Course Content | Rules and analytical approaches to be taken in deciding the appropriate sample size, which is one of the most important stages of research, will be addressed. For this purpose, we will focus on what should be taken into consideration when determining the appropriate sample size in the most frequently performed research types in practice, and the introduction and application of formulas that can be used in calculating the sample size. The statistical package program or web-based account pages that can be used to calculate sample size will also be examined. |
Learning Outcomes |
- Describe the appropriate sample size concept and explain importance of it for research. - Know what needs to be taken into account when determining the sample size in the planning stage of researches. - Calculate the appropriate sample size for prevalence or field surveys conducted frequently in health field. - Know the steps to be followed when determining the appropriate sample size in experimental and clinical researches and can calculate it within ethical rules. - Know the advanced methods used to determine sample size and know the usage requirements of these methods. - Can calculate the appropriate sample size at various stages for market and drug researches. - Knowing what needs to be taken into account when calculating the sample size for investigating inter-variable relations and calculating the appropriate sample size. |
