This program has been founded to achieve the following targets in the field of tourism and hotel management;

  • To improve the quality of education and training program and provide sustainability of it,
  • To increase the number of indexed publications in international journals,
  • To improve the quality of graduate theses in the field of tourism and hotel management and organize scientific meetings and
  • To promote the participation to scientific meetings.

The purpose of the department is to train accoutred management candidates at graduate level whom the tourism ındustry required and encouraging them to entrepreneurship and to cretate the value for all stakeholders by achiving the projects that the sector required.

The Vision of this Program is;


" To became a leader program in educating scientists and  development of Turk Tourism as well as regional and all around of the country by producing qualified Master Theses and academic puplications within the framework of Turkey Tourism Strategy 2023"

Students who successfully complete the programme will be awarded an Master’s Degree in Tourism and Hotel Management.
[] Earned Level of Qualification
It is a programme that provides graduate education at Second Cycle level.
[] Admission Requirements
It is essential for the candidates of graduate program:

•    To hold an undergraduate diploma.
•    To have a grade of at least 55 in ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam), 450 in GMAT, which is an internationally accredited exam or 610 in the “quantitative” part of GRE exam.
•    To meet the requirements determined by the head of department and to have  taken the language proficiency exam given by the Institute, unless the candidate has a certificate of KPDS/UDS or any other exam accredited by YOK (Turkish Higher Education Institution).
•    To be successful in the interview/ aptitude test.
•    To have a reference letter, a statement of purpose  showing thereas on for applying  for the graduate program and competence in written and oral Turkish and/or foreign language skills.
•    Exchange student applications are to be done in accordance with the admission requirements of the agreement signed between DuzceUniversity and the partner university.
•    Visiting students can take the courses approved by the head of the related department.
[] Course's Contrubution To Program
Students studying master's with thesis are required:
• To take 7 courses and enroll in the Seminar course and Master’s thesis, and complete 120 ECTS. To get at least a grade of CB in order to be successful in each course of the program,
• To have 3.00 general average grade out of 4.00 on the core subjects, and are to be successful in the Seminar course and Master’s thesis defense.

Students registered in a Master’s program without thesis:
• Are required to take 10 courses and enroll in the Graduation Project Course, and complete 120 ECTS. (The Graduation Project Course do not have local credit and are assessed with a pass or fail).
• Are required to get at least CB grade in order to be successful in a course in their program.
• Are required to have 3.00 general average grades out of 4.00 on the core subjects, and are to be successful in the Graduate Project course.
[] Recognition of Prior Learning
Students enrolled in DU might be exempted from certain courses within the framework of certain regulations. A student can be exempted from a certain course provided related course content previously received from another institution complies with that of DU, which is subject to approval and verification by the Board of faculty/graduate school/school.

Recognition of Education Abroad

DU recognises academic terms and courses studied by a student that has been involved in an exchange programme for one or two terms at the universities with which a partnership was established.

Students that are selected to avail themselves of Student Mobility for Studies under ERASMUS are obliged to draw up an education agreement with relevant ERASMUS Unit Coordination prior to the mobility term. The education agreement demonstrates the courses to be studied at the partner university the student intends to go, as well as appropriate ECTS credits.

In addition to this, students shall be asked to issue a Recognition Sheet, which refers to the equivalent of foreign courses in DU, so that the credit transfer is planned and approved.

At the end of the exchange term, the courses studied abroad are recorded and demonstrated in the transcript, together with the original course codes and names and ECTS credits. Pursuant to ERASMUS Programme and Collaboration Agreements concluded thereunto, official transcripts will quote, an abbreviation signal of ET, European Transfer, for the courses studied abroad.

Tourism and Hotel Management is a Science Program that gives an master's education related tourism hotel management  under the umbrella of Duzce University, Institute of Social Sciences.

1 To develop the knowledge in the field of Tourism Management and related disciplines at the level of expertise.
2 To develop creative and practical solutions for current issues and problems in the tourism sector.
3 To conduct a study on subjects that require expertise in the field, independently or/and with others effectively.
4 To have the knowledge about general research methods and field-specific ones.
5 To plan, conduct, evaluate, report and present a research related to the field by using scientific research methods.
6 To have detailed information on internal and external environmental factors, service delivery processes and operations, organizational management, policies and strategies of businesses operating in the tourism sector.
7 To operate in practice within the framework of ethical principles and legal regulations related to the field of tourism management.
8 To demonstrate effective communication and presentation skills in written, oral and visual ways.
9 To use computer software, information and communication technologies related to field of Tourism Management at advanced level.
10 To communicate verbally and in writing by using a foreign language at the minimum B2 General Level of the European Language Portfolio.
11 To know and apply scientific ethical rules.

Students who graduate from this program in order to receive a doctorate degree can apply Higher Education Institutions providing doctoral education in the field of Tourism and Hotel Management .

[] Program Structure

Structure of Tourism and Hotel Management Program:

Program is being operated through coordinated Works of Head of Department, Assistant of Head of  Department and Coordinator of ECTS.

Courses, each course, which is responsible for the relevant in the framework.of criteria specified by the instructor and teaching methods are processed.

Students take courses in two semester and  they prepare Master Thesis in two semesters also.

Specialization Courses is well taken with Master's Thesis.

students who completed Thesis and approved by the Institute completed the program successfully.
