[] About Program
The Turkish Language and Literature Doctorate Programme offers an interdisciplinary approach which includes the theoretical and practical lessons from all the fields of Turkish Language and Literature. Ultimately, the necessity of qualified people on language and literature and the other fields which relate with them, especially as poet, writer, philologist's sensibility and their success of creativity can be possible with education. This programme aims to educate the students who can make researches which provide information production at the international level, find solutions about language and literature problems.

This programme aims to educate at an international level to the academicians and researchers who can pursue scientific studies and developments, comprehend the new movements and change himselves according to the conditions of them and they also should be entrepreneur, dinamic, and  have analytical thinking.
[] Objectives
In general in our country, especially in Duzce, there is a necessity to educated academicians and researchers. If there is a necessity, the educated academicians and researchers can work firstly at Duzce University, then the other universities in Turkey and in the world and other institutions; thus, they can conduct scientific research in convenient places.

   “Doctor of Philosphy (PhD)” degree in Turkish Language and Literature Department (first cycle in Turkish Language and Literature Department) is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum.

[] Admission Requirements
At least 55 points from YDS or getting an equal point from the other exams which accepts by interuniversity board.
Undergraduate grade point avarega (GPA) must be at least 55 points on the scale of 100 or equal with 2 (CC) on the scale of 4.
ALES' score must be at least 70.
The students must be successful at the scientific and oral exams, conducted by Duzce University Social Sciences Institute.
[] Course's Contrubution To Program
  The lessons consists of the fields of Classical Turkish Literature, Modern Turkish Literature, Turkish Folk Literature, New Turkish Language and Old Turkic Language.
 
  To graduate from doctorate programme, students must take 33 credits, as 11 lessons and a seminar. Each lesson is 3 credits and all the lessons are theoritical. All the lessons are elective. To reach dissertation stage and get the lessons at this level, the candidates must be successful at the lessons which they take at first, second and third semestres.

  The courses last three semestres. Students who complete the courses successfully evaluated by a written and oral proficiency exam on Turkish Language and Literature field. The students have eight semestres for completing the courses and passing profiency exam. Students who are successfully complete these stages must prepare a doctoral thesis and defense his thesis. After thesis defense, studenst found successful by the thesis jury have a right to graduate.
[] Recognition of Prior Learning
   Students enrolled in Düzce University might be exempted from certain courses within the framework of certain regulations. A student can be exempted from a certain course provided related course content previously received from another institution complies with that of Düzce University, which is subject to approval and verification by the Board of faculty/graduate school/school.

   Recognition of Education Abroad

   Düzce University recognises academic terms and courses studied by a student that has been involved in an exchange programme for one or two terms at the universities with which a partnership was established. Students that are selected to avail themselves of Student Mobility for Studies under ERASMUS are obliged to draw up an education agreement with relevant ERASMUS Unit Coordination prior to the mobility term. The education agreement demonstrates the courses to be studied at the partner university the student intends to go, as well as appropriate ECTS credits. In addition to this, students shall be asked to issue a Recognition Sheet, which refers to the equivalent of foreign courses in Düzce University, so that the credit transfer is planned and approved. At the end of the exchange term, the courses studied abroad are recorded and demonstrated in the transcript, together with the original course codes and names and ECTS credits. Pursuant to ERASMUS Programme and Collaboration Agreements concluded thereunto, official transcripts will quote, an abbreviation signal of ET, European Transfer, for the courses studied abroad.

1 Obtains the basic knowledge and skill of studying and researching at the academic level in Turkish Language and Literature.
2 Earns the trust of critical thoughts explanation in a constructive way.
3 Knows the classical and modern literary movements from the past to the present. Evaluates the impacts of the literary movements upon the expression forms.
4 Examines the Turkish language and literature texts from beginning to present. Finds the opportunity of comparison with the texts of western literature.
5 Determines the basic properties of the Modern Turkish Literature periods; knows the new forms and themes that play a role in the period, the new literary language, and imagism, reveals the relationships of the new author, text and reader; compares with the old and determines the effects to the next.
6 Gets information about prosody, rhyme and poetry forms of Old Turkish Literature. Knows this literature's periods, poets and these poet’s works. Tries to read and understand the texts written with Arabic script.
7 Develops the ability of perception, criticising and expressing an opinion about how to analyze a text.
8 Examines the Turkish language and literature texts from beginning to present. Finds the opportunity of comparison with the texts of western literature.
9 Obtains information about the expression-based types in Turkish Folk Literature.
10 Knows the alphabets of the historical and contemporary Turkish dialects. Makes the transcription of the texts and translates them in to Turkey Turkish; makes studies on these texts about grammar and linguistics.
11 Acquires the scientific ethics and sense of responsibility.
12 Uses the knowledge and skills acquired in the field of Turkish language and literature at the shared studies of other areas of social sciences.

   Graduate students have opportunities for working in different kinds of academic fields in universities as "academician". Also, they can find opportunity to work in government foundations like ministry of public education, Ministry of Culture and TRT as well as private institutions in the field of publication and advertisement.
[] The Upper Stage of a Transition
   Graduates who succesfully completed doctorate degree may apply to both in the same or related disciplines in higher education institutions at home or abroad to get a position in academic staff or to governmental R&D centres to get expert position.
